Below are descriptions of the ongoing classes and events I offer. For specific topics, dates and times, please see CALENDAR.
Please read the CODE OF CONDUCT before attending a class or event.
fundamentals
A fundamentals class* is designed to work on the skills essential for the chosen dance style. Each week's lesson will rotate through fundamental concepts and patterns to study the dance's connection, rhythms, spatial structure, pattern structure, character, and motion. You get an introductory course in that genre in any given six weeks. No partner is necessary, and classes are designed for all levels, both newcomer and returning students. The depth of each week will depend on who shows up and the class’s needs. Progress and growth require continuous learning, regular practice, and social dancing. Attending a consecutive six weeks is encouraged, but drop-ins are always welcome. If you plan to drop in for the first time, I encourage you to attend one of the first four classes in the series of six, if possible.
Each class consists of an hour of instruction, followed by 15-30 minutes of social dancing and practice. A safe and welcoming space is a priority, so please read the code of conduct before attending.
Six weeks - $72 (this can be used for any Fundamentals or Next Steps class)
Drop-Ins - $15
*This class is based on a format designed by Karen Jaffe and used with permission.
Next Steps
This class series will take the basic concepts covered in a Fundamentals class to the next level. While continually reviewing and refining those basics, we can create new patterns by taking our fundamentals and playing with the timing, shape, direction, foot placement, style, etc. To join this class, you must have completed all six weeks of the Fundamentals series in that given style or have equivalent knowledge (please contact me to see if this class is a good fit for you).
Each class consists of an hour of instruction combined with 15-30 minutes of warm-up and social dancing. A safe and welcoming space is a priority, so please read the code of conduct before attending.
Six weeks - $72 (this can be used for any Fundamentals or Next Steps class)
Drop-Ins - $15

We begin with an hour of instruction to get you moving, and then we dance to a playlist full of current and classic tunes. OPEN PRACTICE
Open Practices offer a space and time to process the skills you are learning in class before putting them to use on the social dance floor. This means you can safely try out that new move or concept, ask for feedback or help, and get that repetition we all need!
These practices are often connected to class series and will mostly feature music suited to that style. You do not have to have attended the class to join us, this is casual event for all levels of learners looking to improve. A safe and welcoming space is a priority, so please read the code of conduct before attending.
